This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive Hire Controller / Depot Assistant to play a key role in the day-to-day operation of a busy depot.

Role Overview

  • Manage daily depot administration, including raising hire and sales contracts.
  • Process customer orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy throughout.
  • Assist with picking, packing, and preparing equipment for dispatch.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and support stock control activities.
  • Keep the depot clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Support the Depot Manager and provide cover when required.
  • Help coordinate daily depot operations to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Identify operational issues and contribute to continuous improvements.
  • Promote excellent customer service and maintain high operational standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a depot, hire desk, warehouse, or supervisory environment.
  • Strong IT and computer literacy.
  • Experience raising hire or sales contracts would be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Experience supervising or supporting a small team is desirable.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
