The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical & Electrical Fitter to join a well-established manufacturer specialising in the design and manufacture of industrial rubber mixing machinery.

Working as part of a close-knit engineering team, the successful candidate will be involved in the assembly, fitting, installation and commissioning of bespoke machinery.

The role offers a varied workload, with approximately a 50/50 split between mechanical and electrical work, although this will fluctuate depending on project requirements.

International travel may be required to support machinery installations and commissioning at customer sites worldwide, although this is not essential for the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit and install bespoke industrial machinery to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out both mechanical and electrical assembly activities throughout the build process.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and assembly documentation.
  • Support the installation, commissioning and testing of machinery.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.
  • Carry out fault finding and rectify issues during assembly and commissioning.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality and health & safety.
  • Support UK and overseas customer installations where required.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Complete all relevant job documentation accurately.
  • What We Need From You

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Mechanical & Electrical Fitter or similar engineering role.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with basic electrical assembly experience.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Electrical bias

Desirable

  • Experience assembling industrial machinery or capital equipment.
  • Previous installation or commissioning experience.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Willingness to travel for UK and overseas installations.
  • Mechanical, Electrical or Multiskilled Engineering qualification or apprenticeship.
