We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established specialist contractor operating within the civil engineering and ground engineering sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to join a growing business delivering projects across the UK construction industry.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Commercial Director and wider operational teams, taking responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. The role offers a high level of autonomy and would suit an individual confident working independently within a fast-paced environment.

Position Overview
- Administration and management of NEC and JCT contracts
- Reviewing and negotiating subcontract conditions with clients and subcontractors
- Monitoring project costs, revenue, profitability, and financial performance
- Preparation and submission of applications for payment and management of payment processes
- Management and agreement of project variations and change control
- Preparation and negotiation of final accounts
- Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Monthly CVR reporting and commercial forecasting
- Preparation of loss and expense claims and dispute resolution documentation
- Liaising closely with Estimating, Finance, and Contracts teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
- Regular site visits to monitor project performance and identify commercial risk
- Assisting with the mentoring and development of junior Quantity Surveyors where required
- Ensuring contractual obligations and commercial risks are understood by all stakeholders
Position Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering or construction sector
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
- Previous experience within a specialist subcontracting environment is desirable
- Experience within piling, geotechnical engineering, or ground engineering sectors would be advantageous
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline preferred
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and numerical ability
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work autonomously
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build client relationships
- Good IT skills including experience with commercial/project costing software
- Full UK driving licence
