Our client is a specialist manufacturer supplying bespoke products to the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors. Due to continued growth and future succession planning, they are seeking a Technical Engineer / Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to broaden their responsibilities and develop into a senior technical leadership role. The successful candidate will support engineering projects, maintenance, quality, technical support and compliance, with the opportunity to progress into a Technical Manager position.
Position Overview- Manage capital engineering (CAPEX) projects from specification and supplier selection through to implementation.
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance activities and support the upkeep of site infrastructure, including buildings and services.
- Manage and maintain the company's Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Coordinate internal and external quality audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and promote the company's training matrix and competency records.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal departments, resolving product and engineering-related queries.
- Ensure product compliance across the business and supply chain.
- Support CNC programming and operator training, including basic G-code programming and Autodesk Inventor/Fusion.
- Assist with Health and Safety activities, including maintaining COSHH/MSDS documentation and supporting NEBOSH/IOSH compliance (training provided where required).
- Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
- Previous experience within a Manufacturing, Process, Project or Technical Engineering role.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
- Experience managing engineering projects and driving continuous improvement.
- Good understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of CNC programming, Autodesk Inventor/Fusion or manufacturing processes would be advantageous.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications are desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
- Based within a commutable distance of North Shields.
- Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience.
