An established engineering and manufacturing company based in Newry is seeking an experienced Powder Coater to join their production team. This hands-on role will involve preparing, coating, and finishing metal components to a high standard within a busy workshop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent quality finishes across a range of fabricated and engineered products while maintaining safe and efficient working practices.

Job Overview

  • Prepare metal components for powder coating including cleaning, masking, sanding, and hanging parts
  • Apply powder coating finishes to fabricated and engineered components using spray equipment
  • Operate powder coating ovens and monitor curing processes
  • Inspect coated products to ensure quality standards and finish consistency
  • Identify coating defects and carry out rework where required
  • Maintain powder coating equipment and ensure the work area remains clean and organised
  • Work from production schedules and job sheets to meet manufacturing deadlines
  • Follow health & safety procedures and correct handling of materials and equipment
  • Support wider workshop and production activities where required
  • Work effectively as part of a manufacturing team in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience within powder coating or industrial paint spraying
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good understanding of workshop health & safety procedures
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience would be advantageous but not essential

Salary & Benefits

  • Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday: 07:00 - 17:00; Friday: 07:00 - 13:00; 40-hour working week
  • £15.00 - £16.50 per hour depending on experience
