Contracts Manager is required in the UK, for our client within the civil engineering sector. The role involves overseeing all aspects of contracts management, compliance, and programme delivery on large-scale Civil engineering and Tunnelling projects. You will lead contract negotiations, ensure safety standards, and coordinate with technical, legal, and operational teams to deliver projects within budget and schedule, acting as a key member of the executive leadership team.
Job Overview
- Oversee the company's contracts management, compliance, and programme planning functions.
- Lead tender preparation, project proposals, and client negotiations, ensuring contracts meet technical and legal standards.
- Manage construction schedules and budgets, addressing unexpected costs, and ensuring project milestones are met.
- Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure clear communication and role clarity.
- Promote SHEQ policies, conduct site safety visits, and oversee accident investigations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Develop and implement health & safety initiatives, managing psychosocial risks and fostering a safety-first culture across operational teams.
Job Requirements
- Extensive experience in civil engineering contracting with a minimum of 8 years in senior management roles.
- Proven expertise in managing large-scale civil projects, infrastructure and tunnelling contracts within the UK.
- Relevant UK qualifications such as NVQ Level 6, HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contractual frameworks, and legal documentation.
- Proficiency with project management and contract software such as Aconex, COINS, or SAP.
- Demonstrable leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams, negotiate effectively, and uphold safety standards.
- Ability to make operational and financial decisions independently with a focus on risk mitigation and client satisfaction.
- Current UK driving license for site visits and meetings.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary ranging from £85,000 up to £110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
