We are working with a long-established main contractor who delivers a wide variety of projects across Herefordshire and the surrounding counties. Due to progression within the team, they are now looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to provide commercial and estimating support directly to the MD, ensuring projects are delivered smoothly and profitably.
Job Overview
- Manage works from enquiry and tender stage through to final account and handover
- Prepare estimates, tenders, and cost plans for projects ranging from ÂŁ5k to ÂŁ4m
- Provide procurement advice and negotiate best value deals with suppliers and subcontractors
- Monitor budgets, variations, and financial reporting
- Visit sites to assess progress and ensure cost control
- Liaise with clients, site teams, and internal staff to support successful delivery
Projects You'll Work On
- Bespoke new builds (large single residential dwellings)
- Listed building refurbishments
- Extensions and general refurbishments
- Commercial upgrades and fitâouts
- Schools and education facilities
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 5+ years' experience as a QS / Estimator (degree not essential)
- Strong practical knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Confident with pricing and quoting work for review / approval by senior management
- Proficient with spreadsheets / estimating software
- Full UK driving licence and local knowledge of the Herefordshire area preferred
- Downâtoâearth, handsâon approach, able to work closely with a familyârun management team
Salary & Package
- ÂŁ55,000 â ÂŁ65,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
- Car / vehicle allowance negotiable
- Flexible working available (1â2 days from home as required)
- 21 days holiday + bank holidays
