Our client who specialise in waste management, recycling and construction are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to oversee the late shift operation, leading a team of technicians and fitters whilst ensuring maintenance, servicing, and repairs are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise workshop technicians and fitters during the late shift operation
  • Ensure servicing and repairs are completed safely and in line with manufacturer standards
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with risk assessments and PPE requirements
  • Assist with vehicle fault diagnosis and roadside repairs where required
  • Work closely with the transport team to maximise vehicle availability
  • Ensure vehicles are prepared for MOT testing and workshop documentation is completed accurately
  • Oversee completion of service inspection sheets, job cards, and workshop records
  • Support repairs and maintenance of plant machinery where required
  • Assist with the development of apprentices and trainee technicians
  • Ensure workshop facilities, equipment, and tools are maintained to a high standard

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a commercial vehicle, fleet, plant, or workshop environment
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes
  • Understanding of Health & Safety, DVSA, and VOSA requirements
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Experience working on Volvo trucks would be advantageous
  • Level 3 NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent would be desirable
  • IRTEC accreditation would be advantageous
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • First Aid and Fire Marshal qualifications would be advantageous

Salary & Benefits

  • £27.00 per hour
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday: 16:30 - 02:00
  • Friday finish typically between 20:00 - 21:00 following workshop clean down
  • Regular overtime available
