Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fabrication Estimator to join our well-established company. This role will involve estimating costs for fabrication and welding projects, with a focus on full assembly fabrication, material take-offs, and tender submissions. Experience with site visits and pricing site installations is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare material take-offs, including proprietary items, based on project drawings and specifications.
- Create and submit tender returns, including final offer letters using standard templates.
- Price site installation work, considering material costs, labour, and overheads.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to clarify project requirements and communicate pricing details.
- Maintain and update pricing documentation and spreadsheets using Excel and Word.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope and gather relevant information for pricing.
- Support the project team in understanding cost structures and project expectations.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Fabrication background (light/medium fabrication is essential, with heavy fabrication knowledge advantageous).
- Pipework experience (desirable, but not essential).
- Machining knowledge (preferred, but not essential).
- Experience in welding and fabricating full assemblies.
- Strong experience working on the shop floor within engineering shops.
- Material take-offs experience, including proprietary items.
- Knowledge of site installation pricing and ability to prepare accurate site-based cost estimates.
- Experience in creating tender returns and offer letters using standardised templates.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word for pricing documentation.
- Excellent communication skills for both customer and internal team interactions.
- Driving license (desirable, as site visits will be required).
