Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer required for a corrugated packaging manufacturer based in Ely. The candidate will need to be electrically and mechanically skilled and live within a commutable distance.

Responsibilities & Expected Skills

  • Experience in corrugated packaging, paper, FMCG or high-speed production environments (preferred)
  • Strong fault-finding and repair skills across:
  • Electrical systems (3-phase motors, inverters, sensors, control panels)
  • Mechanical systems (bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics)
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) for fault diagnosis
  • Experience maintaining corrugators, die cutters, folder gluers, printers, stackers, or conveyors (advantageous)
  • Competent with planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and breakdown response
  • Requirements

    • Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering
    • Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / BTEC or equivalent)
    • Electrical certification (e.g. 18th Edition or equivalent) desirable
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC diagrams

    Shift Pattern & Working Hours

    • Double days, rotating shift pattern:
    • Week 1: Monday‑Thursday 06:00‑14:00, Friday 05:00‑12:00
    • Week 2: Monday‑Thursday 14:00‑22:00, Friday 12:00‑19:00
  • Work a total of 39 hours a week, paid for 40 hours
  • 2 × 15‑minute breaks per shift
