Senior Structural Engineer required to join a specialist Design & Build contractor based in Doncaster. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of steel and clad canopies and buildings, delivering projects from initial concept and design through to manufacture, installation and completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer with a strong background in steel structures and Design & Build contracting. The successful candidate will take a key role in the structural design of steel-framed buildings and large open-span structures, including responsibility for steel connection design.
Due to the nature of the position, candidates should have experience working within a contractor or Design & Build environment rather than solely within a structural engineering consultancy.

Job Overview
- Undertake structural design and detailed calculations for steel-framed structures
- Design steel connections and associated structural elements
- Design large open-span steel structures, canopies and buildings
- Deliver structural designs from initial concept through to manufacture and installation
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Eurocodes and British Standards
- Inspect and assess existing steel-framed structures where required
- Attend client and project meetings
- Provide technical input during bidding and pre-construction stages
- Work closely with internal design, detailing, manufacturing and project teams
- Support the successful planning, design and execution of projects
- Review drawings and technical information
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and other members of the design team
- Ensure projects and design information are delivered within agreed timescales
Job Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong structural steelwork design experience
- Previous Design & Build / contractor experience essential
- Steel connection design experience essential
- Experience designing large open-span steel structures essential
- Minimum 5 years' relevant post-graduate structural engineering experience
- Good working knowledge of Eurocodes and/or British Standards
- Experience with structural design software such as Tekla Structural Designer and/or MasterSeries advantageous
- AutoCAD experience advantageous
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status advantageous
- Able to work full-time from the Doncaster office
