We are a well-established specialist ground engineering and piling contractor delivering a wide range of foundation solutions across the UK. Due to continued growth and the recent departure of a senior team member, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our design team based in Doncaster. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a specialist contractor environment, working on a variety of foundation and retaining structure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage NEC Contracts and JCT Contracts effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and negotiate subcontract terms and conditions with both clients and subcontractors.
- Monitor project costs, revenue, profitability, and overall financial performance.
- Prepare and submit applications for payment, ensuring smooth management of payment processes.
- Manage and agree project variations, including change control procedures.
- Prepare, negotiate, and finalise project accounts.
- Procure subcontractors and suppliers in line with project requirements.
- Produce monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports and commercial forecasts.
- Prepare loss and expense claims, as well as documentation for dispute resolution when required.
- Work closely with Estimating, Finance, and Contracts teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor project performance and identify potential commercial risks.
- Support the mentoring and development of junior Quantity Surveyors where appropriate.
- Ensure all stakeholders understand contractual obligations and associated commercial risks.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering or construction sector.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC Contracts and JCT Contracts.
- Previous experience in a specialist subcontracting environment is desirable.
- Experience in piling, geotechnical engineering, or ground engineering would be advantageous.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and numerical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and work autonomously.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Proficient IT skills, including experience with commercial and project costing software.
- Full UK driving licence.
