A well-established specialist facade contractor, based in Derby and part of a wider construction group, is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor. The facades division works exclusively on new-build schemes covering SFS boarding, brick slip cladding, and aluminium and terracotta facade systems. The team of around 22 delivers work nationwide, with a strong pipeline of secured projects across the Midlands, Bristol and Milton Keynes.
The QS will report directly to the Commercial Director and mentor a junior QS, taking commercial ownership of significant new-build facade packages with values ranging from £1 million to £20 million. Live and upcoming projects include high-profile residential-led schemes for some of the UK's leading housebuilders and developers. The role is Derby office based with regular site visits, giving the successful candidate a proper mix of commercial and project exposure.
Quantity Surveyor Salary & Benefits- Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 (DOE)

- Take full commercial ownership of assigned facade packages from contract award through to final account
- Manage cost planning, CVRs, cost forecasting and monthly commercial reporting
- Prepare, submit and negotiate valuations, variations and final accounts
- Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Administer main contracts and subcontract packages, ensuring contractual obligations are managed
- Oversee subcontract procurement, administration and payment processes
- Prepare and manage contra-charges, claims, contractual notices and correspondence
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, main contractors, consultants and the supply chain
- Support the Commercial Director on strategy, reporting and continuous improvement
- Mentor and support the development of a junior Quantity Surveyor
- Attend site regularly to build relationships and stay close to project delivery
- Proven Quantity Surveying experience, ideally with a facade, envelope or specialist subcontractor
- Main contractor experience will be considered where the candidate can demonstrate stability and commitment
- Strong knowledge of standard and bespoke forms of contract
- Sound understanding of cost control, CVRs, change management and final accounts
- Experience with subcontract procurement, administration and payment processes
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially sharp, self-motivated and detail focused
- Confident mentoring and developing junior team members
- Comfortable working from a Derby office, with willingness to travel to sites nationwide as required
