Overview
Our client is looking for an accomplished Transport Planner with experience in planning FTL and LTL in an express freight environment to join a busy planning team in Coventry. The role requires experience in international import and export operations for an own fleet of 40ft articulated vehicles. Experience on the UK to Ireland lane would be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact with customers via email and phone to provide updates on consignments
- Respond to customer queries in a timely and professional manner
- Receive and book transport movements from clients
- Assign vehicles and trailers to transport movements, and communicate instructions clearly to drivers
- Ensure clear and timely communication with clients
- Administer PODs and job pricing
Requirements
- At least two years' experience in road freight transport planning of 40ft articulated vehicles
- Experience with FTL and LTL planning in an express freight environment
- Understanding of driver hours, breaks, and loading limits (CPC Manager qualification not required)
- Basic knowledge of customs procedures between the UK and Ireland is an advantage
- IT literate with a strong grasp of spoken and written English (second language acceptable)
- Previous experience with temperature-controlled or pharmaceutical goods is an advantage; training will be provided
Salary & Benefits
- £35,000 - £40,000
- Monday to Friday, with flexibility on daily shift pattern to suit business needs (office operational 06:00-20:00)
- Contracted hours: 42.5 per week; shift hours to be confirmed upon successful application
- After training, one Saturday shift in five may be required, with a day-in-lieu during the previous week
