Chiller Engineer - Up To £60,000 A Year

Overview In this role you ensure reliable operation of chilled water and HVAC systems across the site. You will perform PPM and reactive maintenance on chillers, pumps, and related plant, using BMS data to optimise performance. You’ll manage safety, compliance, and subcontractors while supporting energy efficiency initiatives. This is a hands-on, critical-environment position that shapes the reliability of the sites cooling infrastructure. You will work within BGIS to uphold high standards and professional service. Responsibilities Perform planned preventive maintenance on chillers, chilled water systems, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, and related equipment per schedules. Diagnose and repair faults on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers from major manufacturers. Undertake reactive maintenance and emergency repairs with minimal site disruption. Monitor plant performance and seek improvements in reliability and energy efficiency. Conduct refrigerant leak testing and repairs in line with F-Gas regulations. Operate the Building Management System (BMS) to monitor conditions and optimise performance. Rectify plant faults promptly to maintain critical cooling and environmental conditions. Supervise specialist subcontractors, ensuring safe, compliant, and quality works. Administer permits to work and ensure compliance with BGIS HSE procedures and client requirements. Prepare RAMS for maintenance and repair activities. Ensure availability of spare parts and refrigerant stock to support activities. Provide parts quotations and timing estimates for remedial works. Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance records, and reactive work documentation. Keep plant rooms and chiller compounds clean, safe, and orderly. Comply with statutory regulations including F-Gas and BGIS procedures. Support energy management by monitoring efficiency and recommending improvements. Complete tasks safely, efficiently, and within KPIs/SLAs. Update the CAFM system (e.G., Maximo) with job records and asset information. Promote health and safety culture, perform dynamic risk assessments, near-miss reporting, and LOTO compliance. Develop working relationships with BGIS colleagues, subcontractors, and client representatives. Present a professional image and adhere to company standards.
