Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 Depending on experience

Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in complex mechanical and hydraulic machinery. Due to continued development, they are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their design team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a mechanical and hydraulic design background to take ownership of projects from initial concept through to production, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Position Overview

  • Design and develop mechanical and hydraulic systems from initial concept through to production release.
  • Produce accurate 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Materials.
  • Develop hydraulic circuits and carry out pressure, flow, force and power calculations to validate system performance.
  • Design welded fabrications, machined components and complete hydraulic systems with consideration for functionality, safety and manufacturability.
  • Lead prototype development, testing and validation activities, working closely with workshop and production teams.
  • Raise and manage Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal departments regarding technical specifications, component selection and product improvements.
  • Take ownership of assigned engineering projects, managing technical risk, priorities, validation and delivery milestones.
  • Review engineering drawings, Bills of Materials and technical documentation produced by other members of the team.

Position Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Design Engineer within a mechanical engineering environment.
  • Advanced 3D CAD capability, ideally with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience designing welded fabrications and machined components.
  • Working knowledge of Machinery Regulations and UKCA requirements is desirable.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and practical engineering.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of engineering cost implications.
  • Confident working with minimal supervision and taking ownership of technical decisions.

Position Remuneration

Salary £30,000 - £38,000 - depending on experience

Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00. Friday 08:00 - 14:00. 40 hour working week.

Private medical cover, holiday allowance and pension.
