An established and highly successful civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Southern Region team. With a history spanning more than 70 years, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects across the highways, bridges, flood defence, environmental and transportation sectors. Operating across multiple regional offices, the company continues to secure major framework agreements and high-profile projects, supported by a strong financial position and a healthy forward order book.

- Lead the commercial management of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from contract award through to final account
- Support, mentor and develop junior commercial team members
- Maximise contract profitability and identify opportunities to improve project performance
- Monitor project costs against budgets and provide accurate forecasting and reporting
- Identify commercial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
- Prepare estimates, valuations and commercial reports
- Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation
- Assess, certify and process interim and final subcontractor payments
- Prepare, negotiate and agree variations, compensation events and change management processes
- Assist with the preparation of documentation relating to dispute resolution, including adjudications and arbitrations
- Work closely with operational and project delivery teams to support successful project outcomes
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures, quality standards, safety requirements and environmental policies
- Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
- Strong background working on civil engineering and infrastructure projects
- Highways and bridge construction experience highly desirable
- Demonstrable experience administering and managing NEC forms of contract
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ambitious and proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team
- Innovative problem-solving skills and confidence working across all levels of a construction environment
- Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills
- Experience mentoring and supporting junior commercial staff
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel across the Southern Region as required
