The BMS Service Engineer position is required in Dorset for our client, a specialist business operating within the building controls and building services sector, providing BMS and building automation solutions across a range of commercial and public-sector environments. The role will focus primarily on servicing, fault finding and maintaining BMS systems, with a particular emphasis on Tridium-based systems.
The successful candidate will be predominantly remote based, travelling to customer sites across Dorset and the surrounding area. There is a strong pipeline of service work across Bournemouth and Poole, including hospitals and NHS sites, making Dorset an ideal location for the successful candidate. Alongside planned service work, the role will involve fault finding, remedial works and smaller BMS projects.
BMS Service Engineer Job Overview
- Carry out planned and reactive service work on BMS and building control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across BMS, electrical and associated building services systems.
- Work with Tridium-based BMS systems, carrying out investigation, modification and optimisation where required.
- Attend customer sites independently and take ownership of service visits from initial diagnosis through to completion.
- Complete regular service contracts across NHS and other healthcare environments.
- Identify additional remedial works and provide technical recommendations to customers.
- Carry out remedial BMS and control-system works where required.
- Support the delivery of smaller BMS and building controls projects.
- Complete system checks, testing and commissioning activities.
- Liaise with customers and site personnel to understand issues and provide effective technical solutions.
- Complete accurate service reports, documentation and records following site visits.
- Travel regularly to sites throughout Dorset, particularly Bournemouth and Poole, with occasional travel further afield as required.
- Work safely and independently while maintaining high standards of customer service.
BMS Service Engineer Job Requirements
- Previous experience as a BMS Service Engineer, Controls Engineer, Building Controls Engineer or similar.
- Tridium knowledge/experience is essential.
- Strong electrical background with the ability to fault find electrical and control systems.
- Experience working with BMS, building controls or building automation systems.
- Good understanding of associated building services and how they interact with BMS systems.
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload and service schedule.
- Experience working on healthcare, NHS or similar complex commercial sites would be advantageous.
- ECS or CSCS card would be advantageous / required for relevant sites.
- Good communication skills with the ability to deal directly with customers and site personnel.
- Full UK driving licence is essential due to the site-based nature of the role.
- Candidates based in Dorset, particularly around Bournemouth or Poole, would be ideally located.
