A leading Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take ownership of a substantial portfolio of infrastructure and Tunnelling works across the UK. This is a senior leadership position, responsible for driving commercial performance, governance, and strategy across projects valued initially between £70M-£100M+, with a strong growth pipeline.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, including the Commercial Director and Contracts Director, playing a key part in shaping the future direction of the business.
Commercial Manager Position Remuneration- Salary £100k+ DOE

- Lead the full commercial function across a portfolio of civil engineering projects
- Oversee commercial performance including CVRs, forecasting, cashflow, and WIP management
- Drive margin improvement, risk mitigation, and commercial governance across all projects
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff
- Act as the senior escalation point for contractual and commercial issues
- Manage subcontractor procurement, cost control, and entitlement recovery
- Oversee valuations, applications, compensation events, and final account agreements
- Lead commercial reviews, audits, and performance reporting to senior leadership and Operating Board
- Support work-winning activities, helping secure future projects and long-term client relationships
- Provide strategic commercial insight to support business planning and growth
- Management of a team of quantity surveyors, costing staff and project planners
- Degree qualified, or equivalent
- Experience of development and implementation of procedures
- Civil engineering works experience
- Knowledge of a wide range of contract conditions
- Extensive knowledge of contract forms including NEC, JCT and bespoke contracts
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of relevant software
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
- Ability to effectively prioritise a busy workload and meet project deadlines
- Evidence new ways of thinking which deliver benefits
- Ability to influence others
- Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
