Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 DOE

Our client is looking for a hands-on Workshop Manager to join their team in Bedford. This is a varied role covering workshop management, engineering, maintenance, hydraulics, field engineers, stock and procurement. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be comfortable getting hands-on when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day workshop and engineering operations
  • Provide hands-on technical and engineering support
  • Lead and support field/mobile engineers
  • Oversee maintenance, fault-finding and repairs
  • Utilise strong hydraulics knowledge
  • Manage stock, parts, tools and equipment
  • Oversee procurement and suppliers
  • Support fleet and vehicle management
  • Ensure Health & Safety and compliance standards
  • Oversee RAMS, LOLER, PUWER and inspections
  • Support engineer training and development
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical engineering background
  • Strong practical hydraulics experience
  • HGV licence
  • Previous workshop, maintenance or engineering management experience
  • Experience managing/supporting field engineers
  • Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills
  • Stock, parts and procurement experience
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and compliance
  • Knowledge of RAMS, LOLER and PUWER
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to get involved technically

Salary & Benefits
