Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 DOE
Our client is looking for a hands-on Workshop Manager to join their team in Bedford. This is a varied role covering workshop management, engineering, maintenance, hydraulics, field engineers, stock and procurement. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be comfortable getting hands-on when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day workshop and engineering operations
- Provide hands-on technical and engineering support
- Lead and support field/mobile engineers
- Oversee maintenance, fault-finding and repairs
- Utilise strong hydraulics knowledge
- Manage stock, parts, tools and equipment
- Oversee procurement and suppliers
- Support fleet and vehicle management
- Ensure Health & Safety and compliance standards
- Oversee RAMS, LOLER, PUWER and inspections
- Support engineer training and development
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
Requirements
- Strong mechanical engineering background
- Strong practical hydraulics experience
- HGV licence
- Previous workshop, maintenance or engineering management experience
- Experience managing/supporting field engineers
- Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills
- Stock, parts and procurement experience
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and compliance
- Knowledge of RAMS, LOLER and PUWER
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Hands-on approach with the ability to get involved technically
