Our client, a well-established construction contractor, is seeking an Assistant Estimator to join their team based in Bury St Edmunds. This is a great opportunity for someone with a minimum of two years' experience in estimating who is looking to take the next step in their career towards becoming a fully-fledged Estimator.

Working as part of a highly experienced commercial team, the Assistant Estimator will be involved in a wide range of projects for national, repeat clients in the retail and leisure sectors. These include frameworks and negotiated contracts with major brands such as Tesco, Waitrose, Primark, and Premier Inn. This is a long-term opportunity offering structured progression, exposure to major clients, and involvement in interesting refurbishment, fit-out, and conversion projects across East Anglia, the Southeast, and the Midlands.

Role Overview
  • Work alongside the Estimating team to prepare detailed cost estimates

  • Contribute to cost planning and value engineering exercises
  • Support with negotiating projects secured through frameworks
  • Maintain and develop long-term working relationships within the supply chain
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a construction estimating role
  • Ideally have a relevant qualification in construction or a related field
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willing to travel for site visits as required
