An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Machinist / Miller / Programmer to join a highly specialised manufacturing business supporting the motorsport and high-performance engineering sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in the machining of complex, high-value carbon fibre components, working with advanced 5-axis milling machinery in a dual running and programming capacity. This position offers the opportunity to work on precision-engineered components where accuracy, attention to detail and technical capability are critical.
Working closely with the manufacturing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating and programming CNC milling machines while supporting the continued development of manufacturing processes and new machine implementation projects. This role would suit an experienced CNC Miller with strong Heidenhain programming knowledge who is comfortable working both on and off the machine and has experience machining high-value, complex components.
Key Responsibilities
- Set, operate and programme 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Manufacture complex carbon fibre components to tight tolerances and quality standards
- Create and modify CNC programmes using Heidenhain controls
- Support offline programming activities using VISI and Hypermill software where required
- Conduct machine set-ups, prove-outs and first-off inspections
- Monitor machining operations to ensure quality, efficiency and consistency
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications
- Work with high-value components and materials where precision is critical
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimise machining performance
- Support the introduction and commissioning of new machinery and manufacturing technologies
- Maintain accurate production records and adhere to quality procedures
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve machining challenges
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality and safety standards
What We Need From You
Essential:
- Proven experience as a CNC Miller, CNC Machinist or CNC Programmer
- Strong experience setting and operating CNC milling machinery
- Experience programming Heidenhain-controlled machines
- Experience working with 5-axis machining centres
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD data
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of machining activities
- Experience machining complex and high-value components
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude
Desirable:
- Experience with Hermle 5-axis machining centres
- Experience with Zimmermann milling machines
- Experience using VISI and/or Hypermill offline programming software
- Experience machining carbon fibre components
- Motorsport, aerospace, automotive or high-performance engineering background
- Experience supporting new machine introduction and process development activities
