*Job Summary* This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Hatchery Manager to run a small private hatchery, dedicated to supporting and enhancing wild salmon populations within a well-managed private estate. The successful candidate will bring proven experience in hatchery operations, with a strong understanding of salmon biology and life cycles, supported by either professional practice or academic study. This is a hands-on role requiring both operational oversight and day-to-day management. *Key responsibilities include:* * Planning and managing hatchery operations throughout the annual cycle * Monitoring fish health, water quality, and environmental conditions * Ensuring best practice in line with relevant environmental and fisheries guidance * Maintenance and upkeep of all hatchery facilities and equipment * Leading initiatives to support and improve wild salmon stocks *Candidate profile:* * Demonstrable experience in fish hatchery management or a closely related field * Sound knowledge of wild salmon ecology and development stages * Practical, self-motivated, and capable of working independently * Strong organisational and problem-solving skills * A genuine interest in conservation and the natural environment This role would suit an individual seeking a rewarding position, contributing directly to the sustainability of an important natural resource.
