Benjamin Grace are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering and rail infrastructure contractor for a Bid Manager / Senior Bid Manager to join the South Region Pre-Contracts team. This Bid Manager role is a key position within the work-winning function, supporting strategic growth across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. The successful Bid Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping bid strategy, leading high-quality tender submissions, and driving consistent improvements in work-winning performance. This is ideal for a commercially aware and detail-focused professional with strong experience in rail or civil engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage bid submissions from early opportunity stage through to final tender submission
  • Coordinate inputs from estimating, commercial, planning and delivery teams
  • Develop high-quality PQQ and tender responses ensuring compliance and clarity as a Bid Manager
  • Write, edit and review technical and commercial submission
  • Chair tender progress meetings and manage submission programmes and deadlines
  • Work closely with Regional Directors and senior stakeholders to identify and pursue new opportunities as a Bid Manager
  • Analyse client feedback and support continuous improvement of bid processes
  • Contribute to post-tender reviews and lessons learned activity
  • Support development of work-winning tools, templates and best practice

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Bid Manager or Senior Bid Manager within rail or civil engineering
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering projects and delivery environments
  • Excellent written, editing and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines under pressure
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills
  • Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering (HNC / HND / Degree or equivalent)
