Benjamin Grace are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure organisation for an experienced Estimator (Civils) to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator to work across a range of civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects, contributing to the successful delivery of competitive and commercially robust tenders. The successful Estimator will be responsible for supporting the full estimating lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to tender submission and contract handover. This Estimator role would suit an individual with a civil engineering background who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Estimator – Key Responsibilities- Review and appraise enquiry documentation as directed by the line manager for each opportunity
- Register and manage enquiry documentation with clear tracking and control for submissions
- Prepare and maintain enquiry files and movement registers as part of Estimator duties
- Undertake site visits to assess scope, conditions and constraints relevant to Estimator pricing
- Assess HSEQ, access, engineering and environmental factors impacting submissions
- Liaise with clients to develop outline design options and budgets in support of Estimator work
- Work with design teams to refine specifications and technical solutions for tenders
- Raise and manage technical queries and document responses for Estimator records
- Obtain supplier and subcontract pricing inputs to support Estimator cost build-ups
- Undertake take-offs, develop methodologies and assign resources for pricing models
- Prepare and submit tenders for internal approval prior to client submission
- Attend pre-award meetings to support commercial negotiations
- Support contract handover following successful award of tenders
- Civil engineering background is essential for this position
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of estimating principles
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical working approach
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage workload and multiple enquiries simultaneously
- Full UK driving licence
