We are seeking an experienced Managing QS to provide strategic commercial leadership across a well established business operating within the infrastructure and construction sectors. You will take full responsibility for commercial performance, leading a commercial team and working closely with operational leaders to maximise margin, manage risk, improve cash flow and ensure strong governance across tendering, contracts, change control and supply chain activity. This is a senior leadership role with significant influence over commercial strategy, fleet investment decisions and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all commercial and contractual activity across Plant Hire and Geo-technical projects
- Set and deliver commercial strategy to minimise risk, maximise opportunity and avoid disputes
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing commercial team
- Support and challenge tender submissions to ensure competitive, deliverable margins
- Lead tender adjudication and framework submissions, including schedules of rates
- Act as a senior point of contact for client procurement teams and key stakeholders
- Ensure robust change control, contract compliance and commercial risk management
- Oversee applications for payment, invoicing, unbilled revenue and aged debt
- Lead monthly P&L reviews, forecasting and pipeline reporting
- Develop commercial reporting, KPIs and digital management information
- Provide commercial input into fleet procurement and investment business cases
- Lead supply chain strategy, procurement and key supplier relationships
About You
- Proven senior commercial leadership experience within Plant Hire, Construction, Infrastructure or Rail
- Strong understanding of plant hire economics and P&L management
- Detailed knowledge of construction contracts and legislation (CPA / RPA)
- Experienced in tendering, frameworks, pricing and schedules of rates
- Confident client-facing leader with strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Track record of improving commercial governance, cash flow and reporting
- Analytical, commercially astute and comfortable working at board/senior leadership level
- IT literate (Microsoft Office essential; Coins / Syrinx advantageous)
