The role of the Commercial Accountant:

  • Provide clear, insightful financial reporting and analysis to support business decisions
  • Partner with operational teams to understand performance and improve profitability
  • Lead monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgeting processes
  • Deliver meaningful variance analysis and KPI reporting
  • Support commercial decision-making on contracts, pricing, and business plans
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements
  • Collaborate across finance and wider teams to drive efficiency and understanding
  • Contribute to long-term planning, including 5-year forecasts and scenario modelling

The ideal candidate for the Commercial Accountant:

  • CIMA / ACCA / ACA Qualified accountant or strong QBE
  • Experience in a commercial finance role, ideally within construction or contract-based environments
  • Strong understanding of management accounting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Advanced Excel and strong systems skills
