School Office Assistant (All Year Round)
We are looking to recruit a School Office Assistant to join Benenden\'s dedicated School Office Team. The School Office is the hub of the School and its wide range of customer demands needs to be met to a very high professional standard. The School Office team provides reception and post room services, as well as providing secretarial and administrative support for the School.
School Office Assistants report directly to the School Office Manager; post holders work in rotation to staff the main reception desk, and additionally work in a busy back office environment with reasonable noise levels. As front-line staff, School Office Assistants deal directly with parents, students, school staff and other members of the community, and are often the first point of contact for those making enquiries to the School. Post holders are therefore required to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism in their conduct and personal presentation, and they may occasionally have to deal with challenging customer interactions whilst carrying out their work.
The job demands flexibility/adaptation to changing/conflicting priorities and deadlines, and a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Working Hours:
The hours for this position will be 34 hours per week during term time, plus 30 hours per week during School holidays (with a one-hour unpaid break). Exact days and hours are outlined below:
During Term time
- Monday 8am-6pm
- Tuesday 8am-6pm
- Thursday 9am-6pm
- Friday 9am-6pm
During Holidays
- Monday-Friday 9am-4pm
Term begins on the day of the full staff meeting (INSET day) which you are expected to attend.
Salary:
The salary for this role is based on Β£24,813 FTE with an actual pro rata salary of Β£21,769.89 per annum.

There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with approximately 180 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls\' education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme, teaching the Sixth Form skills for the workplace.
