Benenden School is seeking an IT Systems and Automation Specialist to maintain excellent IT services while driving automation that transforms how technology supports our school community. Working at the heart of our IT team, you will provide technical support across all levels whilst progressively building expertise in workflow automation, low-code platforms, and emerging technologies including AI. You will be a problem solver, tackling challenges with creativity and determination, and a collaborator, working seamlessly with others to deliver effective solutions and drive meaningful change. This role balances operational responsibilities with significant development opportunity.
You will work closely with our Head of IT Strategy and Innovation and Head of IT Operations on automation projects, collaborate with our Power Platform Specialist on building innovative solutions using PowerApps and Power Automate, and develop technical skills that position you at the forefront of where IT is heading. Whether you are solving technical challenges, building automation solutions, or supporting colleagues and students, you will be part of a supportive and people-centred team where your ideas, skills, and expertise will be valued.
We are looking for someone with strong third-line technical support skills and a genuine interest in automation and emerging technologies. You do not need deep automation experience yet, but you should be confident troubleshooting complex issues and motivated to develop automation expertise. We are especially interested if you have experimented with scripting, PowerApps, or automation tools, or have automated processes to work more efficiently. You should have experience supporting and managing Windows environments, Active Directory and cloud platforms, and a track record of taking ownership of technical challenges or projects.
Automation expertise is relatively rare, and we are not expecting you to tick every box perfectly. If you have solid third-line foundations and are excited about building automation solutions, we would like to hear from you.
Why Join Us?
- People-Centred Culture: Join a supportive IT team that values your wellbeing and celebrates your unique perspective.
- Professional Growth: Access opportunities to develop valuable skills in automation and emerging technologies, with experienced mentors committed to your development and access to training courses as needed.
- Meaningful Impact: Work in a small team where your contributions make a real difference in how technology supports learning, communication, and community.
- Inclusivity: Help foster a balanced and equitable workplace, setting the stage for greater diversity in technology.
- Development Pathway: Build expertise that positions you for increasingly strategic responsibilities, with clear succession planning for senior automation roles as our department evolves.
