There are five Middle School Houses for Years 9 to 11, each run by a Housemistress or Housemaster (Hm). This is a vital position and an ideal role for someone looking to develop their career in pastoral leadership.

The role of Hm is demanding but incredibly rewarding and you will be working as part of a close House team. All Hms either teach approximately half a timetable or are involved in other areas of school life for the equivalent amount of time. Family accommodation for the Hm role is located within the boarding house.

If our values resonate with you, and you would relish the opportunity to be a part of a busy girls’ boarding school community, we would be delighted if you would consider joining our boarding team. Benenden offers its own generous pay structure, responsibility allowances and benefits. Staff meals are provided, and the School’s leisure facilities, including wonderful grounds, a fitness gym and swimming pool are available for staff to use.

As an exceptional School, we want to attract, retain and develop diverse talent at all levels so that our pupils feel and understand the power and depth of a diverse community. This means recruiting from the widest possible pool of talent, removing barriers that can prevent people from showing their full potential, and fostering a fully inclusive environment which maximises collaboration and empowers everyone.
