We are seeking a Head of Property & Capital Investment Programmes to guide the long‑term development of our estate across Benenden and Orwell Park. This senior leadership role will shape our estates and environmental master planning and oversee capital investment over the coming years, ensuring that our buildings and grounds continue to support the Complete Education we offer every girl.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Governing Council, you will help ensure that thoughtful planning and careful stewardship remain at the heart of our approach. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful part in the next chapter of a distinctive and historic school. The role calls for experience of leading significant development projects and the ability to balance heritage, sustainability and future ambition with care and good judgement.

About you

You will bring substantial experience in estates development and capital leadership, with the confidence to operate at senior level and the judgement to guide long‑term planning with care. Thoughtful and collaborative in your approach, you will value heritage as well as innovation and understand the importance of creating environments that support learning and wellbeing. Above all, you will be motivated by stewardship. You will recognise that the decisions made today shape the experience of pupils and the future of the School for many years to come.

Benenden is one of the leading day and boarding schools in Britain. We were founded in 1923 and are situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent. There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11‑18, with 190 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls’ education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two‑year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme, teaching the Sixth Form skills for the workplace.

We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state‑of‑the‑art Science Centre and All‑Weather Sports Pitch, and the newly established Centenary Hall and Sir David K.P. Li Music School. Benenden offers its own generous pay structure, responsibility allowances and benefits. Staff are provided with meals whilst on duty. The school’s leisure facilities, including wonderful grounds, a fitness gym and swimming pool are also free for staff to use, when available.
