The role involves appointing a suitably experienced individual to the position of School Staff Instructor (SSI) to join our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Benenden School to cover maternity leave until January 2027. The SSI acts as the military advisor to the Headmistress and the Contingent Commander. The SSI role is central to the smooth and efficient running of the Contingent, including its administration, organisation, and delivery of military training to all members of CCF at Benenden and John Wallis Academy. The CCF comprises a Royal Navy and Army section.
This role is offered on a term time plus 3 weeks in the school holidays basis, working 37.5 hours per week. Working days must include a Monday and Thursday with flexibility to meet overnight exercises or training camps.
The full-time salary for this role is £33,986 per annum, with an actual salary of £26,864 per annum for this term time role, pro rata for the period you hold the position.
It is a genuine occupational requirement that successful candidates can meet the pre-engagement requirements as they may on occasion be required to drive a minibus. They should also be physically able to lift, bend, and carry. The appointment of the SSI is subject to approval and security clearance by the MoD.
Benenden is one of the leading day and boarding schools in Britain, founded in 1923 and situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent. There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with approximately 180 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls’ education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme, teaching the Sixth Form skills for the workplace.
We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state-of-the-art Science Centre and All-Weather Sports Pitch, and we opened our new Music School and Hall in June 2022.
