Benenden School is seeking to appoint a Careers & Higher Education Adviser to join a highly regarded and ambitious Careers Department. Working closely with the Head of Careers, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a dynamic and outward-facing programme. The role combines individual student guidance with the planning, organisation and delivery of a wide range of Careers and Higher Education events and programmes, alongside involvement in partnerships and university application processes.

The post-holder will play a central role in both student guidance and the delivery of the school’s Careers and Higher Education programme, with significant responsibility for the organisation and delivery of key events.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing 1:1 careers and university guidance and support to students in Years 11-13
  • Assisting students in exploring university, apprenticeship and other post-18 pathways
  • Supporting the coordination of the UCAS application process
  • Taking a central role in the planning, organisation, and delivery of a wide-ranging programme, including:
  • Futures Convention, STEM Fair, and VI.1 Annual Enterprise Challenge
  • Visiting speakers (Professional Skills Programme), partner schools and Careers Ambassadors
  • VI.1 induction and Oxbridge Information Evening (in liaison with the Head of Sixth Form)
  • University admissions preparation events (UCAT, LNAT, MMI) and scheduling
  • School trips, educational visits, including the Year 10 Skills Testing Programme
  • Contributing to the delivery of the Lower School Careers programme, in conjunction with the Head of Higher Education and Professional Guidance
  • Maintain and update Careers and Higher Education systems, including ISAMS, SOCS, CPOMS, UCAS, Unifrog, and the internal staff portal
  • Assist with the collection and organisation of relevant Careers data for tracking and reporting
  • Support the day-to-day running of the Careers Department
  • Benenden is one of the leading day and boarding schools in Britain. We were founded in 1923 and are situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent. There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with approximately 180 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls’ education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme.

    Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool are free for staff to use, when available.
