Benenden Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to actively support the Pharmacy Manager in delivering a safe, effective, and high-quality pharmacy service. As a senior member of the Pharmacy team, you will be at the heart of delivering outstanding pharmaceutical care to our patients. You will combine hands-on clinical practice with leadership, service development, and quality improvement—helping to ensure our pharmacy services consistently exceed standards.

About the role:

  • Take a leading role in ensuring excellent pharmaceutical care for all patients at Benenden Hospital.
  • Assume the role of a Responsible Pharmacist and deputise for the Pharmacy Manager when required.
  • Lead on antimicrobial stewardship, representing Pharmacy on the Infection Control Committee.
  • Drive the development and review of Trust Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and associated training.
  • Lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service for surgical inpatients, embedding best practice in medicines management.
  • Develop, review, and update pharmacy policies, guidelines, and SOPs.
  • Lead on audit programmes, data collection, and presentations to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Supervise and support the clinical workload of the junior pharmacist and pharmacy technicians.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager with elements of line management and professional development of junior staff.

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Registration with GPhC as a Pharmacist.
  • At least 4 years of post-registration experience.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Experience of working within a healthcare team.
  • Previous experience of working in a busy dispensary environment.
  • Previous hospital experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience of supervising and training other staff is essential.
  • Experience and skills in using computer programs and harnessing technology to enhance the Pharmacy service.
  • Previous experience of developing and undertaking audits, audit report writing and presentation of results.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • Evidence of good customer service skills and awareness.
