Are you an experienced Pipeline Engineer looking to apply your expertise across complex offshore and onshore projects? Bureau Veritas is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to join our Aberdeen-based engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work as an independent competent person, delivering verification and certification services for major energy infrastructure projects throughout the full asset lifecycle. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring pipeline systems are designed, installed and operated in accordance with industry standards, regulatory requirements and best engineering practice, helping clients manage risk and maintain the highest levels of safety and integrity.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Pipeline Engineer, you will work independently and as part of multi-disciplinary project teams, supporting a diverse portfolio of offshore and onshore pipeline projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing independent verification of pipeline design, installation and integrity assessments.
- Reviewing engineering deliverables including specifications, design basis documents, calculations, reports, drawings and procedures etc.
- Assessing compliance with project requirements, industry standards and regulatory obligations.
- Reviewing technical studies covering routing, wall thickness design, free spans, stability, crossings, cathodic protection, installation and structural integrity.
- Supporting life extension and remaining life assessments for ageing assets.
- Reviewing fabrication, welding, coating, testing and quality documentation.
- Participating in audits, inspections, surveillance activities and technical witness scopes.
- Producing verification reports, compliance assessments and verification statements.
- Working closely with clients, contractors, regulators and internal stakeholders.
- Mentoring and supporting developing engineers within the team.
About You
We're looking for an experienced pipeline professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for engineering excellence. You will ideally have:
- A degree in Mechanical, Civil, Offshore or a related Engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or a desire to work towards it.
- Significant experience in pipeline engineering design, integrity management or verification activities.
- Experience across offshore and/or onshore pipeline developments.
- Knowledge of the full project lifecycle, including FEED, detailed design, fabrication, installation, commissioning and operations.
- Experience with both rigid and flexible pipelines and risers.
- Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
Technical Expertise
Experience in several of the following areas is desirable:
- Pipeline design and integrity assessment
- Structural and pressure containment analysis
- On-bottom stability assessments
- Free span analysis
- Installation engineering
- Materials compatibility
- Corrosion, coatings and cathodic protection
- Fatigue and engineering criticality assessments
- Verification, certification and risk-based methodologies
Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards, including:
- API
- ASME
- DNV
- NORSOK
- ISO
- BS/EN Standards
- Energy Institute Guidelines
Software Experience
Experience with two or more of the following would be advantageous:
