SEIB Insurance Brokers, part of Benefact Group, is looking for a Schemes Development Manager to join our South Ockendon office. This role is ideal for someone with a strong underwriting background who can bring technical insight to the development, enhancement, and governance of specialist schemes. Working closely with the Schemes Manager, you’ll help shape new propositions, refine existing products, and drive the continued expansion of our digital trading capability.

You’ll play a key part in identifying complementary products, exploring potential scheme acquisitions, and supporting the growth of 24/7 e‑trade platforms. Your underwriting experience will be essential in ensuring scheme integrity, maintaining robust documentation, and supporting performance reviews and product governance. This is a hands‑on, commercially focused role spanning diverse specialist insurance sectors, including charities, equestrian, funeral services, motor trade, private hire, and property owners.

Why join us? Join a collaborative and inclusive culture that’s committed to making a difference and building a more sustainable future. Ranked amongst the UK's 15 Best Big Companies to Work For in 2025, we offer fantastic career and development opportunities within a rapidly growing, innovative Group — where all profits go to charity and good causes.

What you'll be doing:

  • Scheme Growth & Development – use your underwriting expertise to shape new scheme propositions, enhance existing products, and support the expansion of digital e‑trade capability, ensuring propositions are technically sound and commercially viable.
  • Portfolio Oversight – apply underwriting judgement to scheme reviews, performance monitoring, and product updates, while maintaining high‑quality documentation such as underwriting guides, binding authorities, and policy wordings.
  • Insurer Relationship Management – leverage your technical background to support renewal discussions, performance reporting, and action tracking, helping maintain strong and sustainable insurer capacity partnerships.
  • Data, MI & Governance – interpret scheme performance data, contribute to governance processes, support audits, and ensure delegated authority controls remain robust.
  • Collaboration & Leadership – work closely with internal teams to provide underwriting‑led guidance on scheme products, contribute to training and communication, and act as deputy to the Schemes Manager when required.

What you'll need to have:

  • Experience in consumer or commercial insurance, ideally in a broker environment, with solid technical underwriting knowledge.
  • Confident building relationships over the phone and delivering an excellent client experience.
  • Understanding of FCA requirements including ICOBS, PROD and Consumer Duty.
  • Comfortable working with data and MI to spot trends and opportunities.
  • Strong communicator able to build effective relationships with insurers and internal teams, supported by technical credibility.

What makes you stand out:

  • Chartered Insurance Institute Certificate (or actively working towards it).

What we offer:

28 days annual leave plus
