About the role

Lloyd & Whyte, who are proudly part of Benefact Group, are looking for a Claims Handler to join our Direct Corporate Risks business within the Claims team in their Billericay office. As a Claims Handler looking for your next challenge, you will bring experience in commercial insurance along with strong claims expertise. You will be responsible for providing exceptional client service, ensuring all claims are managed promptly, fairly and efficiently to achieve team targets in support of the business strategy.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as the first point of contact for all claim notifications, providing prompt, accurate guidance while managing client expectations, and attend client claims review meetings as required.
  • Prioritise and process all supporting claim documents, including report forms, witness statements, proofs of value, registration papers and assessor reports.
  • Negotiate with insurers, as required, in relation to the settlement of claims, both in respect of policy liability and settlement amount.
  • Assist clients in the pursuit of any uninsured losses sustained as part of a claim.
  • Prepare and submit claim reports within required formats and deadlines, including regular audits of delegated authority arrangements.
  • Advise clients on their options should insurers refuse indemnity under any particular policy, or wish to offer a final settlement figure below original expectations.

What you'll need to have

  • Demonstrate company values (Fun, Supportive, Professional, Partnership‑focused, Ambitious) in all client interactions.
  • Communicate confidently face to face, by phone and email, maintaining accurate records and managing expectations effectively.
  • Apply sound understanding of the UK insurance market, including conditions, exclusions and key terminology.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret policy documents and confidence in managing the administrative elements of the claims process.
  • Bring experience in claims, ideally within Motor, EL, PL, Products Liability or Professional Indemnity, with bonus knowledge of Waste & Recycling, Haulage or Construction sectors.
