Due to the nature of the job there will be significant travel.

  • Carry out technical assessments of Safety Reports from major hazard sites (new and existing).
  • Investigate safety-related accidents and incidents involving industrial control systems within high-hazard industries.
  • Produce technical inspection reports highlighting risk gaps and non-compliance with legislation.
  • Take enforcement action to address significant risks, including prohibiting unsafe processes or activities.
  • Undertake forensic analysis of electrical and control systems to establish accident root causes, lead technical investigations, and support legal enforcement action.
  • Provide expert opinions on the management of industrial control systems, and act as an expert witness in tribunals, inquests, and legal proceedings.
  • Advise colleagues on specialist technical matters, including standards for electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres and functional safety requirements.
  • Liaise with government departments, professional bodies, trade associations, and industry to gather intelligence, share insights, and contribute to policy and guidance.
  • Represent the organisation at UK forums and conferences to promote improvements in technical and operational safety standards.
