Location

This role will be primarily based at our state-of-the-art workshops in East London (Hainault IG6).

The Role

Thomas Lyte is looking for a skilled and talented polisher and plater. Your role will entail polishing and plating some of the world’s most iconic sporting trophies as well as an array of bespoke pieces, both modern and historic. In return we will pay a market leading salary, together with annual bonus, private medical cover and long-term incentives. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years’ experience, however experience in plating is not essential and we will be looking for a willingness and enthusiasm to learn. As with all roles within our workshop, we must emphasise that total concentration and focus is required at all times to ensure the safety of all personnel. This is a busy working environment, and successful applicants will need to be fully conscious and mindful of the pace and strength of machinery being operated.

Responsibilities
  • Silver and gold plating of bespoke trophies, awards, and objet.
  • Machine polishing of bespoke trophies, awards, and objet to a high standard – with experience in the various finishes such as high mirror and sateen.
  • Liaising with colleagues with making, polishing, plating, engraving and project administration.
  • Assisting with quality control of the finished products to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
  • Actively contributing new ideas to the dynamic environment and working closely with staff throughout the company.
  • Understanding and complying with the Health & Safety protocols in the workshop.
Skills and Experience
  • Preferably 5 years’ experience or more in the trade.
  • Excellent judgement and decision-making abilities.
  • Capacity to grasp concepts and problem solve.
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain precise standards and ensure the highest levels of quality at all time.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks and be commercially aware.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to interact well with others.
  • Must be able to handle brass, copper and precious metals.
  • Ability to lift heavy, and sometimes awkward shaped pieces for polish/plate.
