At The Remarkable Goldsmiths, we are artisan jewellers who make pieces for people to treasure for generations, from bespoke commissions to one-of-a-kind collections and everyday heirlooms. Every piece of treasure is made with care, precision, and a touch of magic.

While our Lead Goldsmith is on maternity leave, we need a safe and skilled pair of hands at the bench to keep that magic happening. This is a role for a proper goldsmith. Someone who has done their time, knows their craft inside out, and can pick up a job sheet and simply get on with it. You'll be working in our Dartmouth Atelier alongside a small, close-knit, all-female team, taking the lead on the making side of the business for twelve months.

What you'll be doing

  • Mounting, start to finish: all mounting work across bespoke commissions and collection pieces, made from scratch to the standard our clients have come to expect.
  • Repairs and restoration: excellent repair work is at the heart of this role. From resizing and re-tipping to more complex restorations, you'll treat every piece that crosses your bench as the treasure it is to its owner.
  • Working the metal properly: reclaiming your own filings and lemel, and creating alloys when the job calls for it. You understand your materials from the ground up.
  • Stone setting (desirable): if you can set as well as mount, all the better. Tell us about it.
  • Keeping the work flowing: logging jobs, updating progress, and managing your workload through our online project systems, so everyone always knows where each piece is.
  • Meeting our clients (occasionally): you won't be front of house, but from time to time you'll talk a client through a repair, a remodel, or the making of their piece. Warm, clear, and knowledgeable is the order of the day.

What we're looking for

  • A minimum of 6 years' experience at the bench, with formal training behind you.
  • A background as a jobbing goldsmith or journeyman, comfortable turning your hand to whatever the day brings.
  • From-scratch goldsmithing: you build, you don't just assemble.
  • Confidence and independence: you can run the bench without someone looking over your shoulder.
  • Comfortable using online project management systems to track jobs and communicate with the team. We use Trello to track all of our projects from start to finish.
  • Pride in your craft, care in your work, and the good humour to fit into a small team where everyone mucks in.
