We’re looking for an experienced Jewellery Production Manager to lead and coordinate our in-house workshop at Mitchel & Co. This is a key role at the heart of our business — you’ll be responsible for turning our customers’ ideas into beautifully crafted, high-quality jewellery, delivered on time and to exacting standards. Working closely with our CAD team, craftspeople, sales team, and trusted external partners, you’ll oversee the full production journey — from initial brief through to finished piece. You’ll be joining an award-winning, family-run jeweller with a loyal client base and a strong reputation for craftsmanship and honesty. Our showroom, office, and workshop all sit under one roof in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, creating a fast-moving, collaborative environment. We offer flexibility, a supportive team culture, and real scope to shape and improve how production operates as the business continues to grow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing the day-to-day running of the jewellery workshop and production office
- Leading and supporting a small, highly skilled team of craftspeople and coordinators
- Briefing bespoke orders into the CAD team and commissioning designs, castings, and components
- Scheduling and allocating work across goldsmiths, setters, polishers, and external specialists
- Overseeing workflow, deadlines, and production status for all bespoke and collection pieces
- Acting as a key link between production, sales, designers, and customers
- Maintaining exceptional quality control at every stage of manufacture
- Managing materials, gemstones, stock levels, and work-in-progress using internal systems
- Monitoring costs, estimates, and production budgets, identifying efficiencies where possible
- Maintaining supplier and production databases and sourcing new partners when needed
- Upholding health, safety, and compliance standards within the workshop
- Communicating with customers regarding production progress and queries when required
- Supporting wider business operations in a flexible, hands-on way
About You
- Proven experience in jewellery production management or a senior jewellery coordination role
- Strong understanding of fine jewellery materials, craftsmanship, and production processes
- Highly organised, calm under pressure, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- A confident communicator and natural problem-solver
- Supportive leadership style with good delegation and decision-making skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and pride in delivering outstanding quality
- Adaptable, collaborative, and happy to roll your sleeves up when needed
Perks & Benefits
- Competitive, negotiable salary depending on experience
- 35–37.5 hours per week
- Flexible working patterns
- Private healthcare scheme
- Pension scheme
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Eye test vouchers
- Parking permit
