We are one of the very few jewellers in the country that has its own handmade workshop based in the jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. This allows us to provide our clients with an unrivalled range of unique jewellery, bespoke designs by choosing from our wide range of loose diamonds, selection of rings, styles and jewellery to provide them with perfect gifts, wedding bands, earrings, bracelets and pendants. All our diamonds are certified and conflict-free.

We are seeking an experienced Jewellery Polisher to join our busy Birmingham workshop, with a yearly salary of up to £35,000, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in meticulously restoring the aesthetic appeal of various pieces through the application of polishing techniques. They will have a keen eye for detail, a steady hand, and a passion for enhancing the beauty of high-quality jewellery items.

Your responsibilities as a Jewellery Polisher at Neve Jewels will include, but not be limited to:

  • Execute precision polishing techniques on jewellery items using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Work with a variety of precious metals, predominantly Platinum, Gold and silver, ensuring the preservation of each material's unique characteristics.
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections to identify finishing imperfections, scratches, or other blemishes on metal surfaces.
  • Utilise magnification tools and lighting to ensure the highest level of accuracy in identifying and addressing imperfections.
  • Possess a deep understanding of different jewellery materials and finishes, adjusting polishing methods accordingly to achieve optimal results for each material type.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in materials to enhance polishing techniques.
  • Implement and maintain strict quality control standards to ensure that polished jewellery meets the company's specifications and customer expectations.
  • Document and report any deviations or issues encountered during the polishing process.
  • Work closely with other jewellery professionals, including setters and mounters, to ensure seamless integration of polished components into the overall jewellery assembly process.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to address specific requirements for each jewellery piece.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Managing workload effectively to meet customer deadlines.
  • Maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail throughout all work.
  • Responsible for both the maintenance and cleaning of equipment and workshop tools.
  • Contributing to a positive and collaborative workshop environment.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in jewellery polishing.
  • Proficiency in using polishing wheels, such as lathes, brushes, and polishing compounds.
  • Skilled in understanding different jewellery materials and finishes, adjusting polishing methods accordingly to achieve optimal results for each material type.
  • Knowledge of quality control processes in fine jewellery.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for quality.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Genuine passion for jewellery and craftsmanship.
