This is a key role within the production operation and would suit an experienced manufacturing Team Leader, Line Leader or Supervisor who enjoys being hands-on, leading from the front and taking real ownership of production performance.

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of the factory, managing Team Leaders and supporting the wider production function to ensure workflow, priorities and resources are effectively coordinated. You will be responsible for ensuring production runs efficiently, customer deadlines are met and the team continues to deliver against standards for safety, quality, cost and performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the daily production schedule through the ERP system, ensuring work is prioritised effectively across each production cell.
  • Coordinating workflow through supporting departments to keep production moving and maximise machine utilisation.
  • Managing and supporting Team Leaders across the factory.
  • Monitoring production performance and operator output to ensure productivity targets are achieved without compromising quality.
  • Running continuous improvement and Kaizen projects to improve production processes and efficiency.
  • Leading daily team meetings and reviewing performance across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People.
  • Working closely with the Sales Team to manage changing priorities and urgent customer requirements.
  • Managing consumables and stock requirements alongside suppliers to minimise disruption to production.
  • Managing subcontractors in relation to pricing and lead times.
  • Supporting the development of the production team through 1:1s, appraisals, coaching and identifying training requirements.
  • Supporting recruitment, employee relations, disciplinary matters and conflict management where required.
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture across the factory, ensuring procedures are followed and encouraging near-miss reporting.
  • Investigating accidents and implementing corrective actions to reduce the risk of recurrence.
  • Maintaining compliance with ISO quality standards.
  • Carrying out quality audits and reviewing production paperwork and inspection records.
  • Investigating production non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions.

We are looking for someone with strong supervisory experience within a manufacturing, machining or production environment who is comfortable balancing people leadership with the operational demands of a busy factory. You will be confident making decisions, setting priorities and holding people accountable, whilst also supporting and developing the team around you.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a Team Leader, Line Leader, Production Supervisor or similar manufacturing role.
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing, machining or production processes.
  • Experience using ERP or production planning systems.
  • Good Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • A good understanding of production and process flow.
  • The ability to interpret production data and use it to support operational decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues, suppliers and customers at all levels.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • A self-motivated, disciplined and assertive working style.
  • Experience supporting and developing teams within a production environment.

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience within machining, CNC or precision manufacturing.
  • Experience of continuous improvement or Kaizen methodologies.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards.
  • Experience conducting quality audits or investigating non-conformances.
  • Previous involvement in employee relations, recruitment or performance management.

You will be joining an established Sheffield manufacturing business with a strong reputation and a broad customer base. The company operates within specialist markets and is focused on quality, continuous improvement and developing its people as the business continues to grow.
