We’re hiring a DevOps Engineer to join our Core DevOps team, building and operating the shared platforms and tooling that support engineering across Benchmark. You will focus on creating scalable, secure and automated infrastructure, enabling delivery teams to build, test and release software quickly and consistently. This is a hands‑on role with real impact across our cloud platform, CI/CD pipelines and developer experience.
What you’ll do:
- Build and maintain shared cloud platforms and services (primarily Azure)
- Develop reusable infrastructure and automation using Terraform and scripting
- Create CI/CD frameworks using tools such as GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy
- Enable self‑service capabilities so teams can deploy and manage workloads independently
- Support Kubernetes clusters, container platforms, networking and identity integrations
- Implement guardrails and policies to support security, compliance and scalability
- Maintain monitoring, logging, alerting and performance standards across the platform
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in engineering workflows and deployment pipelines
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve tooling, reliability and speed of delivery
- Support incident triage, including security‑related tickets
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:
- Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Azure
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred)
- Exposure to scripting (e.g. Bash or similar)
- Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with tools such as GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy or similar
- Understanding of modern application stacks (e.g. .NET, C#, React)
- Experience monitoring systems, applications and cloud environments
- Ability to support and guide development teams on DevOps practices
You’ll be based at the Benchmark Head Office, within our Broadlands Business Campus near Horsham in West Sussex but will need to be present across our other offices, including the main Schroders headquarters in London. We support our offices by using cutting‑edge software and hardware and our spacious campus facilities mean a great working environment for the team. With an on‑site restaurant, coffee shop and gym, our campus has much to offer. And commuters can relax on our dedicated regular shuttle bus to and from Horsham’s main line train station.
