Benchling In Vivo enables scientists to conduct pre-clinical experiments with the mission of developing life-saving treatments and therapies. We are looking for a full-time Senior UX Designer to create easy-to-use experiences for Enterprise users. You will work closely with customers, Product Management, and Engineering teams to deliver solutions to help our customers. An ideal person for this team will be able to balance customer needs and priorities with scalable, consistent, delightful user experiences in an agile environment. This role is on-site in Belfast three days a week and collaborates with team members based in the United States. There is some business travel required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Work with Product Management and Engineering teams to define product strategy, scope, and prioritization in a startup-like environment.
- Partner with Product to conduct basic research to understand customer and end-user needs.
- Work through product problems from definition and opportunity to shipping features to our customers.
- Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly to validate product directions.
- Own the design for high-impact initiatives from research through implementation.
- Effectively communicate with remote team members based in the United States.
- This role requires business travel to headquarters for collaboration, and/or major company events 1-3 times a year.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience driving the design of software products, ideally SaaS, while maintaining a relentless focus on the user.
- A strong portfolio of relevant design work that conveys an ability to ship elegant, easy-to-use products that are successful in the marketplace.
- A track record of working with and affinity for making complex problems simple.
- An affinity for designing for new technologies, such as AI, to help with real user problems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain the reasoning behind design decisions.
- Experience contributing to a design system for complex software products.
- Experience working with Product Management and Engineering teams in an agile environment.
- Ability to develop front-end code is a plus, but not required.
- A background with lab work, scientific research, or healthcare will serve you well in this role—but it is not a requirement!

How We Work
We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritises in-office collaboration. Employees are expected to be on-site 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).
SALARY RANGE
Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location.
