We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Gardener (Grade 4) to join our Building Services & Maintenance team. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the aesthetic appeal and environmental health of our grounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of gardens, lawns, and green spaces within the premises, ensuring that all outdoor areas are safe, attractive, and well-maintained throughout the year. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and knowledge of horticultural practices are essential for this role. The Gardener will work closely with other maintenance staff and report to the supervisor within the Building Services & Maintenance department. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and cultivate lawns, flower beds, shrubs, and trees to ensure healthy growth and appearance.
  • Operate and maintain gardening tools and machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Implement seasonal planting, pruning, and harvesting schedules to optimize garden health and aesthetics.
  • Monitor and control pest and weed infestations using environmentally friendly methods.
  • Ensure outdoor areas are cleared of debris, litter, and hazardous materials to maintain safety and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with building services staff to plan and execute landscaping projects and improvements.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment during all gardening tasks.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a gardener or in a similar horticultural role.
  • Knowledge of plants, gardening techniques, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Ability to operate gardening equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and hedge cutters.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform outdoor manual work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations related to gardening and landscaping.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with effective communication skills.

Must Hold a Valid Full Driving Licence
