We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Advisor to join our team and play a critical role in safeguarding vulnerable children within the West and Central Africa region. This position requires a passionate professional committed to promoting and ensuring the protection, rights, and welfare of children in challenging environments. The successful candidate will provide expert advice, technical guidance, and support for child protection policies, programs, and interventions, collaborating closely with various stakeholders including local communities, governmental agencies, and humanitarian partners.
The Child Protection Advisor will lead efforts to strengthen child protection systems, enhance capacity building, and ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of child-focused initiatives. This role demands not only technical expertise but also strong advocacy skills and the ability to operate sensitively within complex sociocultural contexts. Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise and strategic advice on child protection issues within the West and Central Africa region.
- Develop, implement, and monitor child protection policies, guidelines, and frameworks in alignment with international standards.
- Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to strengthen child protection systems and interventions.
- Lead capacity building initiatives for partners and field teams to improve child protection knowledge and practices.
- Conduct assessments and provide analysis on child protection risks, gaps, and needs in various contexts.
- Support the design and implementation of child protection programs, ensuring integration with broader humanitarian and development efforts.
- Advocate for children's rights and protection at regional forums and with key decision-makers.
- Advanced degree in Social Work, Child Protection, International Development, or related fields.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in child protection, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
- Strong knowledge of international child protection standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Proven experience working in West and Central Africa or similar contexts with an understanding of local sociocultural dynamics.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams in complex and challenging environments.
- Fluency in English and French is highly desirable due to the regional scope of the role.
