Bembridge Sailing Club, located in Bembridge Harbour on the eastern end of the Isle of Wight, was founded in 1886 and has a rich history. With a membership of approximately 1,100, the Club offers an active year-round sailing and social programme, along with an important youth training scheme. The Club is focused on pursuing revenue-generating activities to support its growth.
The General Manager will be responsible for the management and development of staff and facilities, acting as Club Secretary and ensuring the smooth running of the sailing and social programmes. This role includes active management of the Club’s financial accounts and promoting wider commercial use of the Club’s facilities.
Applicants should possess proven managerial, financial, communication, and IT skills, with the ability to work effectively both as a leader and as a member of a small team. An enthusiasm for the sea and sailing is desirable, although personal sailing experience and knowledge are not essential.
The successful candidate will be a commercially astute self-starter, highly organised, with strong management skills and a focus on leadership and service. Good communication and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to be tactful and diplomatic, moving agendas forward in an inclusive and consultative manner.
