Bembridge Sailing Club is a friendly, well-established club on the Isle of Wight with a busy social calendar. Our kitchen serves Friday Night Suppers, Sunday Carveries, themed dinners, film nights and special events, all built around good, honest, locally sourced food.
The role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Sous Chef to join our bank team. You will support the Head Chef during service, cover shifts and holidays, and help keep standards high across our regular menus and one-off events. Hours are flexible and offered according to the club's calendar, so this suits someone looking for variety alongside other commitments.
Key responsibilities
- Run the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence and support them during busy services
- Prepare and cook dishes to a consistent, high standard
- Help with menu preparation, ordering and stock control
- Maintain food hygiene, allergen and health and safety standards at all times
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant
- Work well with front-of-house staff and club volunteers
- Guide and support junior kitchen staff
About you
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior Chef de Partie
- Confident cooking a varied menu, from pub-style classics to carvery and event dining
- Knowledge of allergens, including gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options
- A valid Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (Level 3 is desirable)
- Calm under pressure, with a positive, team-focused attitude
- Flexible and available for evenings, weekends and occasional special events
- Own transport is desirable
