Our client is seeking an experienced CRO Advisor to support a strategic client engagement focused on unlocking revenue growth through side-payment opportunities and commercial optimisation. This is an exceptional opportunity for a former Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, or Commercial Director to apply your executive leadership experience and deep payments expertise in a trusted advisory capacity.

Position Overview

As CRO Advisor, you will act as a strategic commercial partner to senior client leadership teams, identifying and developing new revenue opportunities within payment ecosystems. You will combine your executive commercial experience with payments expertise to assess monetisation models, evaluate side-payment strategies, and recommend actionable business cases for growth. Your role is to translate complex payment opportunities into practical commercial outcomes that drive measurable revenue performance improvement and competitive advantage for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Advise client leadership on revenue growth strategies and commercial optimisation opportunities within payment ecosystems
  • Assess and identify side-payment opportunities, evaluating associated commercial benefits and implementation feasibility
  • Review payment operating models, commercial arrangements, and ecosystem structures to uncover growth potential
  • Develop strategic recommendations, business cases, and implementation roadmaps for revenue initiatives
  • Engage with executive stakeholders including C-suite leaders, commercial teams, and business owners
  • Facilitate strategic workshops and stakeholder interviews to explore opportunities and align on priorities
  • Provide market insight into payment trends, emerging business models, and industry best practices
  • Support clients in evaluating risks, implementation considerations, and success metrics for new revenue streams
  • Identify opportunities to improve revenue performance and enhance commercial effectiveness across payment operations

Requirements

Essential experience and skills:

  • Former Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, Commercial Director, or equivalent executive leadership role
  • Proven track record delivering significant revenue growth and commercial transformation programmes
  • Demonstrable experience in side payments, payment monetisation, payment optimisation, or alternative payment models
  • Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, payment economics, and commercial structures
  • Proven experience identifying and implementing new revenue streams and growth opportunities
  • Strategic, commercial, and analytical capability with ability to translate complex opportunities into actionable outcomes
  • Experience advising senior executives and influencing strategic business decisions
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to operate independently and confidently in client-facing advisory environments
  • UK or European work authorisation

Desirable experience:

  • Background in fintech, banking, payment service providers, or financial services organisations
  • Experience launching or scaling payment-related products or services
  • Consulting, advisory, or transformation environment experience
  • Established network across payments, fintech, or commercial leadership communities
